Please join the Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP for its first-ever Defenders of Civil Rights brunch on Saturday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Blue Hill Event Center in Chapel Hill.

The brunch will support the branch’s Freedom Fund, which provides college scholarships to deserving students, and will honor four of our community’s Defenders of Civil Rights:

  • Lydia Lavelle

  • Al McSurely

  • Bill Morris

Gene Nichol, Boyd C. Tinsley Distinguished Professor at the UNC School of Law, will deliver the keynote address.

We hope that you will be able to join us for this landmark event, and if you or someone you know is interested in being an event sponsor, please take a look at our sponsorship prospectus.

Get your tickets today, and stay tuned for program updates, sponsorship information and more! We look forward to seeing you on May 17!
